From 1960 through 1962, Reed lived in the home of William Roosevelt, the grandson of President Roosevelt, in Cherry Hills, Colorado. By 1963 Reed would move to a home in Sheffield, Massachusetts, just miles from the Barrington Horse Track. It is here that Thom and his family would undergo life altering events. Thom’s encounters had an enormous impact, crushing his belief system, altering his reality, normalcy and spirit. The conscious hours spent in an intolerant and orchestrated incursion by undisclosed authorities and non-human lifeforms haunted him, yet had awakened an inner sense. His recall of Sept 1, 1969, an incident that flooded the local police department with reports as well as making the news on Barrington’s WSBS Radio, is one of an illuminated craft ascending from the water while exiting the Sheffield Bridge. Their car engulfed in light, weightlessness, and then dead silence. The circumstances that would follow, Thom will never forget.

With the unveiling of a monument, the incident made U. S. history in 2015, becoming the first UFO related case to be officially inducted into Massachusetts state history by Governor Charles D. Baker, whom signed and issued a formal citation for such an event.
